DOWTHERM SR-1 has been manufactured with 100% virgin ethylene glycol. The fluid has never been blended with other glycol streams (and do not contain recycled glycol) so as to ensure batch-to-batch consistency. Each product has been specially formulated with heavy-duty industrial inhibitor packages that help in preventing corrosion. The inhibitors are long lasting, easily maintained and replenishable, which means intervals between fluid change outs are extended and fluid expense is minimized. 

It serves as an inhibited ethylene glycol based heat transfer fluid. It is a formulation of 95.5 percent by weight ethylene glycol and a specially designed package of industrial corrosion inhibitors. The fluid is dyed fluorescent pink for leak detection purposes. Solutions in water provide freeze protection to below -50°C (-60°F) and burst protection to below -73°C (-100°F).
