ARMOHIB 28 serves as an Acid Inhibitor manufactured by Thai Chemical and Engineering Co. Ltd. It is comprised of organic substances that help in detaining the chemical action of acids on metal surfaces in the course of pickling and process equipment cleaning. ARMOHIB 28 is used in conjunction with hydrochloric acid and hydrochloric-hydrofluoric acid mixtures.
ARMOHIB 28 is essentially made up of complex amines. It appears as a brown coloured liquid having a typical amine like odour. It exhibits a pH of 6.5 – 7.5 and a specific gravity of about 1.00 – 1.02. It is completely soluble in water.
Several industries associate the active participation of different kinds of metals directly or indirectly. Due to extensive usage, these metals or metal parts has the tendency to form rust or undergoes scaling. Acidic treatment is considered critical in rendering protection to these metals against scaling and rusting. This acid treatment can be proceeded with in varied ways to help in the removal of scale and rust but in exchange brings about the abrasion of metals on account of their corrosive properties. This process not only alters the metal properties but also tend to induce the loss of base metals after acid pickling. Therefore, this leads to the necessity of acid inhibitors to aid in restricting the acid attack on base metal, thereby aiding in abating the economic loss for the industry.
Acid Corrosion Inhibitors are particularly of acid specific nature that is each inhibitor has been formulated for inhibiting a particular acid or a combination of acids. Thai Chemical and Engineering has designed ARMOHIB 28, an acid inhibitor, that targets the inhibition for a combination of acids involving hydrochloric acid and Hydrofluoric Acid which provides it with an advantage to be used in situations where any kind of concentration of these acids are used for carrying out the pickling process of metals.
ARMOHIB 28 accounts for low-cost dependable protection over a wide range of temperatures. Acid attack on metals can be impeded by adding a small amount of the product with the acid. ARMOHIB 28 may be added to either concentrated or diluted acid solutions. They should not be diluted first with water.
